Compassion is shared humanity. As the origin of compassion “compati” means “to suffer with”. when we know our own darkness well only then we can be present with the darkness of others.

There is a difference between empathy and compassion, as compassion has its own active component which empathy lacks .compassion gets involved whereas empathy is just an ability to relate to another person’s pain. Compassion is a tangible expression of empathy for the suffering of others.

To be compassionate for others, self-compassion is the first step. so start practicing self-compassion a simple breathing in and breathing out can make a drastic change.
